Sacred Heart of Jesus

leave a comment »

…When we encounter the traditional representation of the Sacred Heart, it’s quite striking how in these images, our Lord’s own Heart is completely exposed. It is vulnerable and unprotected – and it’s obvious how badly this Heart has been injured by our sins, the crown of thorns, the piercing wound, and the blood which flows out from these wounds… it shows how Jesus Christ made Himself utterly vulnerable and weak, in order to die for the love of us.
Today as we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us therefore also make ourselves vulnerable and weak for the sake of love.

– Fr Emmanuel Seo

Jesus, gentle and humble or heart, make my heart like Yours. Jesus, whose heart was wounded, bleeding, thorn-crowned, and forgiving, make my heart like Yours.
